My journey with meditation began in my early 30s during a particularly challenging time in my life. As a stay-at-home mum to three young children, I was managing life’s daily demands when my daughter suffered severe injuries after an accident. Shortly after, my husband also faced a serious accident, breaking his collarbone and requiring multiple surgeries. This left us a person short in our family support, and I felt my physical and mental resilience start to crumble.
It was then that I was introduced to mindfulness and Buddhist teachings. Over the next year, I began incorporating mindfulness into my daily routine—listening to teachings, practicing while folding laundry, and finding calm in my role as a caregiver. Slowly, I noticed a shift. I was feeling calmer, more grounded, and better able to cope. The teachings and practices gradually became a natural part of my life, helping me to create a powerful toolkit for resilience and well-being.
For a long time, though, sitting down to meditate still felt like a challenge. It wasn’t until ten years later, when I attended a three-day meditation workshop with friends, that meditation truly clicked for me. The workshop included a guided pre-course, and suddenly, I found myself enjoying the practice. From that day, meditation became a commitment, transforming how I felt about life and how I responded to its challenges.
A few years into this deeper meditation journey, I began to crave a broader understanding of different meditation styles. I met an instructor trained by the British School of Meditation, and I knew this was the path I wanted to follow—not only to deepen my own practice but to share meditation with others. In 2019, I completed my teacher training with the British School of Meditation, opening up new practices, deepening my understanding of meditation’s origins, and delving into the science behind it. My love for meditation continued to grow.
Today, as a professional coach and behaviour change specialist, I work with businesses and their teams to integrate meditation into the workplace. Over the years, I’ve seen the powerful benefits my clients experience—improved productivity, emotional regulation, confidence, calm, and happier team dynamics. Meditation has reshaped workplace culture, empowering individuals to tap into their own inner resources and become more effective leaders and colleagues.
As a British School of Meditation ambassador, supporting the practice of meditation in business and workplace settings. I look forward to training new students who wish to introduce meditation to their workplaces. Those drawn to this practice often have a deep sense of mission and purpose, and together, we can create healthier, happier workplaces for everyone.
