In October, we celebrate our wonderful register member Kirsty Knapp, from Mind & Body Wellness. Kirsty is based in Haywards Heath, West Sussex.
Her business, “Mind & Body Wellness,” provides workshops and personalised support for the body, mind, and soul. Kirsty focused on techniques such as mindfulness, meditation, breath-work, EFT, sound therapy, and therapeutic and reflective writing.
We asked Kirsty to share some information about her business, her teachings and her own meditation experience, so that you can get to know her better.
Here is what Kirsty told us about her own meditation experience…
“I began practicing meditation more seriously in 2017 after participating in a workplace health mindfulness meditation course offered by my employer. This experience opened my eyes to the positive benefits of establishing a consistent practice, sparking my desire to learn more.
I practice mindfulness meditation every-day and regularly use various techniques to deepen my practice. These include mindful breathing and movement, body scans, sound meditation and loving-kindness meditation. Each method serves a unique purpose, helping me to stay grounded, cultivate compassion, and maintain a sense of peace amidst the daily hustle.”
Kirsty trained with BSoM to become an externally accredited meditation teacher because…
“I was looking for an affordable, accredited course that provides a comprehensive overview of various meditation styles, allowing me to enhance my knowledge and subsequently share it with others…
I also wished to enhance my understanding and experience with meditation, I aimed to acquire new skills that could be applied with wellbeing clients while working on stress management interventions we were developing at my previous workplace”
What she loved about the training was…
“I truly appreciated the entire experience, particularly because it was highly practical. The fantastic venue and the presence of other like-minded individuals who attended added to the enjoyment”
About Kirsty’s business ‘Mind & Body Wellness
“I established my business in 2019 with the vision of providing mindfulness meditation courses, workshops, and talks aimed at helping individuals and workplaces manage stress. I incorporated various skills I had acquired, including breathwork, sound healing, and mindful movement through yoga and qigong. My goal was to encourage people to take a break from the hustle and bustle of life, allowing them to pause and tune in to what their bodies and minds truly needed for relaxation and healing
I provide one-on-one support to patients at GP practices dealing with stress, anxiety, low mood, and menopause symptoms. Additionally, I collaborate with local charities and organizations to conduct workshops and presentations, as well as offering private sessions for women-only groups”.
Kirsty’s favourite aspect of teaching is…
“Sharing its benefits with others, along with the various aspects that I know can truly help them. Additionally, it's wonderful to witness the growth and development of individuals during our time together, as they learn to incorporate meditation into their daily lives”.
